SWES is known across campus, the state, and the world for its robust extension programs in the areas of water quality and policy, climate-ecosystem interactions and natural resource management, aquaculture, soil-plant relations and management, land use, land management and reclamation, and subsurface properties. Through our Extension Programming we maintain strong linkages and information transfer to private, governmental, and tribal organizations.
Core Extension Programs
- Climate Science and Biometerology (CSB) – focuses on climate monitoring and assessment of local and regional climate and meterological variability to enhance agricultural production, resource management, and development of climate change adaption strategies.
- Soil and Land Management (SLM) - is focused on improving best management practices related to irrigation, salinity and nutrient management across a range arid and semiarid systems.
- Water Quality and Sustainability (WQS) – is focused on issues including chemical and biological indicators of water quality, water reuse, aquaculture and water policy.
