Water Quality and Sustainability (WQS)

Water quality, sustainability, and security are of increasing importance with current rates of population growth and water usage in arid and semiarid ecosystems.  SWES has strong Extension programs dealing with a range of water quality and sustainability issues including the benefits and risks of using recycled water in municipal and agricultural systems, microbial indicators of water quality, the transport and mitigation of water pollution, aquaculture, assessment of nuisance aquatic plants in Arizona waters, and water policy.
